I graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1986.
This is where I met Slavian, my future “partner in crime”. Early in my career, I was involved in the design of industrial concrete buildings, and later on, I switched to sales and distribution of insulation materials in Bulgaria. After our move to Canada in 1998, I found my new calling in steel construction. We started in a small a detailing company in Parksville, BC, and in 2001 Slavian and I felt confident enough to build our own steel detailing business and formed Pargov Steel Detailing Ltd. Since then, with the help of our team, we have had the opportunity to be involved in hundreds of projects, catering to both the American and Canadian markets.
Our industry has changed dramatically in the last 15 years and so have we! We adopted Tekla Structures as our main detailing platform in 2008. This provided new and exciting business development opportunities for us, but the core of our business remains the good care and service to our customers.
I graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1985.
Here is where I was first intrigued with the elegance of steel structures. After my graduation I went on to study applied mathematics – this was in the era when the personal computer was still a novelty. Early in my career, I was involved with the design of multiple industrial and residential structures in steel and concrete.
I started my career as a steel detailer in Canada by chance, but continued it by choice because it gave me the freedom to work on projects all over North America and I find the work both exciting and fulfilling. My background gave me the confidence and the competitive advantage to start our own business. The professional opportunities that were presented to Milena and me have given us the inspiration to work hard and successfully be involved in hundreds of projects, each with their unique challenges. We take pride in our work and each of our projects is special for us.
It began with an engineering background coupled with a vision 17 years ago…and that vision began with a hand railing structure at Vancouver International Airport. Through the years we have grown to service multi-level industrial, commercial, institutional, and office building structures to name a few. Our specialty lies within the 100-2,000 ton projects where we can effectively operate in a cost effective manner to promote a smooth fabrication and an erection process.
Our key to success lies in communication and assisting in project management. With our engineering background we have the ability to work closely with the design team on the RFI’s in a cohesive manner which elevates the entire project and saves time and money; two components that you never can get back.
